ENVIRONMENTAL FRIENDLY AND SOCIALLY RESPONSIBLE PENCIL BRANDS (WOOD) IN INDIA

Posted on Updated on

INTRODUCTION

Pencil is an instrument for writing or drawing, consisting of a thin stick of graphite or a similar substance enclosed in a long thin piece of wood or fixed in a cylindrical case. The woods have to be sustainably sourced preserving the eco-system. “Sustained-yield” means that the annual growth of the forest is greater than the amount harvested from the forest. Forests managed on a sustained-yield basis are abundant and healthy, and will continue to provide wood for people and habitats for animals for generations to come.

OBJECTIVE OF THE RESEARCH

The aim of this research is to help the consumers to purchase pencils brands that give something back to society for the simple reason that pencils are made from wood. The common choice of the brand will be made based on price, on performance, on product safety concerns. This research adds awareness in knowing that the wood source is sustainably procured for making pencils. If we need a regular supply of pencils, choose ones made from sustainable wood sources.

We want the consumers to be well informed from a reliable source about which brand of pencil contributes back to society to a large extent by collecting information from a variety of sources.

SUGGESSTION TO THE COMPANIES

Recycled Paper Pencils

None of the Indian companies used recycled papers to manufacture specific. Recycled way of production of pencils can help to save trees.

“Recycled paper is wound tightly around the graphite ‘lead’ to form the body of the pencil. Sharpens just like a wooden pencil – actually even better as it tends to sharpen more evenly than wood. Making a small change to using recycled paper pencils can have a large environmental impact over time. Use recycled and save waste, water, and energy”- http://www.buyecogreen.com
